It’s like the problems of this world just keep getting worse. I can so easily get sucked into the vortex of this happening, oh and this, and did you hear about this. Which then quickly takes me down the road of judging others, anger, frustration, and talking about the issues with no good outcome. I have left conversations, many times, with family and friends and thought to myself well that was a real bummer we didn’t really chat about blessings in our lives or what was going on with us.
I’ve always been a glass half full kind of girl. I like to see the good, rise to a bigger potential, and encourage others to do the same thing. So how do we take the sin and yuck that is happening around us and look at it through eyes of a child of the King?
He warns us of exactly this in John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart I have overcome the world.” I.LOVE.THIS! So, He tells us in this world we will have trouble and there will be trouble in the world but what?!? He offers us His peace and reminds us that He has overcome the world… This isn’t as good as it gets!
We’ve got to remember what mission field He has called us too! This could be mom, wife, husband, employee… The hubs and I have been called into youth ministry. So, as we start a brand-new school year that will be our focus – On the youth God brings to the ministry. I am praying that we don’t get bogged down with all the problems the students (and we) can’t control but instead focus on the mission field right in front of us. Kids who desperately need the One who gives peace, hope, and the best life.
Friends, I want to share other ways I’ve helped focus my mind on the main things…
Aim with me to enjoy life and those around us – Make a difference where we can – And trust God in the rest!
