I’ve got big events on the mind – In full planning mode as I write this (our January & February are packed full)! In our 16 years of ministry we’ve been in charge of our fair share of large events. From teen lock ins, to Easter breakfast for the congregation, to annual banquets. So, what we’ve found that makes all the difference is the size of our army…
As an introvert, my go to is to organize and do it myself (and we did this for years). We’ve felt the pressure that these large events were all on us (some self-inflicted)! The rise or fall, succeed or not, was up to us. It can be a very lonely and terrifying place to be. Filled with what if’s and then what’s. With an army of one (really two the hubs and I usually serve together) we can struggle with time management, self-focus, resentment, and how to get it all done. I know many times we lost our reward before the event even happened because we complained every step of the way rather than thanking God for His guidance, wisdom, and blessings. We’ve grown so much in our faith and what I do know now is a little army has a harder time getting it all done at the caliber at which it could be.
--> We have the biggest fundraiser of the year for our nonprofit this next week and as we grow in our walk to be more like Jesus – We are blessed to have a big army to make this event one of the best nights and something that many look forward to each year. Extremely blessed by all those that serve with us!!
A big, willing, God fearing army can make all the difference (and it’s so much more fun)! When God brings the workers big events can seem easy peasy. Less stress, more productive, others focused, and joy filled. So, the next time you get asked to serve or even organize an event here’s some helpful tips from someone who’s done it both ways and prefers a large army...
We are created to serve as a body and in that comes great blessings and joy. There’s nothing like playing a small part in something bigger than us and I’ve learned this is better with an army. So as you serve where God leads – Shine your light, serve together, and enlist an army!!
